Shahid Hadis Park is a historical country park located on Babukhan Road in the center of Khulna city. It was established as Khulna Municipal Park in 1884 for the entertainment of the citizens. On June 16, 1925, Mahatma Gandhi, the leader of the Non-Violence Movement, conveyed a speech at the Park, and the Park was renamed in his honor to 'Gandhi Park'. Later, during the mass upsurge on February 21, 1969, in the convoy against Ayoub Khan, Sheikh Haddisur Rahman Babu was martyred from the gunfire by police. He was from the Bagerhat district in the Khulna district. After the cremation prayers of Shahid Hadis on the 22nd of February, the crowd obliged to change the name of the park "Shahid Hadis Park" to respect his involvement in the fight for the language, Bengali.

Nowadays the Park has been well developed, upgraded, and modernized. The whole city of Khulna can be perceived at a glance from the observation tower built in Shahid Hadis Park. Stunning as it is, it becomes more comforting it gets when under the observatory’s shade. A new martyr monument has been built in the park similar to the central Shaheed Minar of Dhaka City. Decorated with various searchlights and numerous show-lights, the martyr monument brags an area of 6860 square feet. The edifice venerates the language movement martyrs Sheik Hadisur Rahman Babu, Altaf, and Pradip. The valiant souls to give their lives in the language movement are now dredged up in Shahid Hadis Park and Shahid Altaf Auditorium.

A startling contemporary fountain has been mounted in the park. It is hemmed in by nice medley causeways. There is a mini spherical footbridge over the clear big pond around the fountain.
