Muppochhara spring is located in Bangalkata, Rangamati district, in the Bilaichhari upazila. The Chakma word Bilai means cat, and Chari means mountain spring. Muppochhara Jharna is one of largest springs of Bilaichari. Despite being a waterfall, the water flows down so far that it is the largest waterfall in Bangladesh in terms of width. Because this is a remote mountainous area, there are numerous springs in numerous small and large hills. The crystal clear water cascading down from about 300 feet above captivates the mind. The gurgling sound of the fountain and the water sprayed away by drips of water will captivate you.
How to Go:
You can directly go to Kaptai from Dhaka. To reach Bilaichhari, you can get into a trawler from Kaptai Launchghat. There are options for the passengers-either they can reserve it or else choose the local option, which is more budget friendly. The first trawler leaves Kaptai at 8:30 am followed by two local trawlers at 1:00 pm and 1:30 pm for Bilaichari. It takes about 2 hours 30 minutes to travel from Kaptai to Bilaichari by trawler. You can take necessary items like food, water, fruits etc. in Bilaichari bazaar. Another trawler should be taken in reserve from Hospital Ghat in Bilaichari to go to Bangalkata. After 30 to 40 minutes, you will get down at Bangalkata, where you can hire a guide and go out on the way to Muppochhara. After about two and a half to three hours of trekking, you will reach enchanting Muppochhara waterfall.
